A few things can really go a long way! Filter changing is important, if you have a 1 inch filter it should be changed every 2-3 months. If you have a 4 or 5 inch filter, 6-12 months. Water is a by product of your central AC system, it will drain as it is produced, be sure to verify the line or condensate pump does not become clogged with algae. 20oz water bottle with hot water and 2 tablespoons of dish cleaner will help remove algae growth

Many variables will determine the longevity of a system. Industry standards for a well maintained system are as follows. Mini Split systems can typically last 10-15 years. Furnaces will typically last 20-25 years. Heat Pumps will last 15-20 years. Package units can last anywhere from 10-20 years

Yes.  Short answer, its sanitary and keeps your system running longer. The duct work can house a plethora of bacteria, viruses, dirt and debris that can be harmful to your health. Dust in your duct work and in your unit will cause the motor to work harder to pull air from the returns and push air through the supplies. Many systems also have electrical components that are affected by the dust as dust will attract moisture and moisture can cause corrosion and shorts in your systems electrical components 

The layout of the home  and duct work in the home will usually play a large role in this common issue, more often than not a few solutions can help alleviate the issue. The first step is closing non essential vents, forcing more air into the room you need the air in. Another solution is to increase the fan speed, at which you will need a trained professional to change.
